The 14 Minute Lap
I just got home from my first “out of the house” walk in a long time and it was fantastic. I don’t know how long the outside lane is at a high school track but I actually made the entire lap all on my own (well, with my cane, sigh). My 14 minute lap.
Obviously, I am not setting any speed records, but I can’t believe how much easier it is walking on a level and rubberized track vs. walking on the hilly street in front of my house.
After my back surgery, I tried walking on my street but the consequences to my knees and hips were so bad that I just couldn’t continue. I ended up having to go to my doctor for cortisone shots in my knees to reduce the pain.
So far tonight, I am a little stiff and can feel a little swelling in my knees, but nothing like it has been in the past. And another blessing is that I am fading fast so, hopefully, I will get some great sleep tonight.
Praises to modern medicine and the modern high school track.
I am so amazed at the difference that if you haven’t tried walking on your local high school track, I really want to encourage you to try it.
With my walking exercise I thought it would be a good idea to drink some water. I know, I know, Lady Sweet Tea drinking water. It kinda makes me sad but I added a couple of fresh lemon slices to my water and it tastes great. It’s not tea, but good nonetheless.
So, no matter what ya’ll are drinking tonight, I wish you…
